We meet to discuss an eclectic mix of fiction and nonfiction.

This book club is hosted in partnership with the Arlington's Office of Senior Adult Programs.

We meet online on the first Friday of the month via Zoom. We are led by an experienced volunteer. We welcome new members to join us in reading and discussing current literary fiction, historical fiction and some nonfiction titles.

To receive Zoom meeting information, register for the group's email list. The volunteer who leads the group will email a link to the Zoom meeting one day before the meeting.

About this month's title: "Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead" by Olga Tokarchuk

Finalist for the 2019 Man Booker International Prize, this is a deeply satisfying thriller cum fairy tale and a provocative exploration of the murky borderland between sanity and madness, justice and tradition, and autonomy and fate. In a remote Polish village, Janina devotes the dark winter days to studying astrology, translating the poetry of William Blake, and taking care of the summer homes of wealthy Warsaw residents. Her reputation as a crank and a recluse is amplified by her not-so-secret preference for the company of animals over humans. Then a neighbor, Big Foot, turns up dead. Soon other bodies are discovered, in increasingly strange circumstances. As suspicions mount, Janina inserts herself into the investigation, certain that she knows whodunit. If only anyone would pay her mind . . .
