About The Butler: Inspired by a true story about Cecil Gaines, a devoted husband, father, and White House butler who served eight Presidential administrations during the turbulent politics and civil rights battles of twentieth century America.
Rated PG13, 132 minutes. 2013. Directed by Lee Daniels. Starring Forrest Whittaker, Oprah Winfrey, and Mariah Carey.
Fun fact: The character of Cecil Gaines was based on Eugene Allen, who served as White House butler for over 30 years and 8 presidents.
