The Library Truck and the Arlington Art Truck are teaming up for a unique mid-Summer event at Central Library

Have extra craft supplies laying around at home? How about unused craft items that were originally bought for a long forgotten project? Want to try a new craft, but don’t want to spend money on supplies? The July Supply Swap is the perfect place for you to donate + acquire gently used supply items! This outdoor event will take place on the garden pathway connecting the two Library parking lots, with the Library Truck and Arlington Art Truck serving as bookends. Donate your supplies at the Library Truck, work your way past the craft supplies (grabbing a few that spark your interest), and end up at the Arlington Art Truck. The Arlington Art Truck is a program of Arlington Cultural Affairs, a division of Arlington Economic Development delivering public activities and programs as Arlington Arts.

The Arlington Art Truck
Positioned at the Arlington Art Truck will be an artist demonstration by woodcut print artist Justyne Fischer.  Ms. Fischer will demonstrate the process she used to create her series for the zine and postcard kit,  "Words Matter: Honoring Arlington Educators".  This kit, focusing on the importance of positive language, features a zine and postcards of five prominent women educators and activists of varying backgrounds that reflect Arlington’s diversity: Hazel Mahler, Dorothy Hamm, Dr. Evelyn Reid Syphax, Dr. Phoebe Hall Knipling, and Dr. Emma Violand-Sánchez. While visiting, take a free zine and postcard kit in either Spanish or English.

Craft Supply Donations
You can donate your clean, useable craft supplies at the Library Truck during the event.  (You do not need to donate supplies in order to take supplies.) Craft items must be in clean, usable condition. Items CAN be incomplete, i.e. a bottle of paint that is half full and not dried up, 50% or more of a packaged item like beads, etc. Small items should be bundled into clear bags or jars by style, size and/or color. **To help our patrons with allergies, please note if any fabric or yarn donations are from a pet or smoking home.
