Tip off your Summer Reading Challenge!

Preschoolers! Come for a fun Summer event to launch the Arlington Public Library Summer Reading Challenge. There'll be lots to see at the event:

  •  11am- 12pm: We'll be featuring Spinny Johnson for an exclusive Arlington Library performance! As a basketball performer, Spinny is known for his scoring as well as his trick shot artistry. This upbeat, dynamic program features fun and amazing basketball skills while teaching the importance of education, respect, goal setting, determination and perseverance. To keep the attention of the students throughout the performance, Spinny performs unique tricks such as balancing a basketball on a key held tightly between his teeth! He follows such acts with the message; "With the proper discipline and hard work, you can accomplish anything!" Spinny has worked with the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters and has performed with such greats as Wilt Chamberlain, Curly Neal, Meadowlark Lemon, and Marques Haynes.
  • We'll be launching the Wonder Window, an interactive window mural that captures the essence of our Summer Reading theme, Food For Thought. Through the Wonder Window, your family be will able to explore the Westover neighborhood through our book-themed scavenger hunt!
