Congressional oversight investigations can be a powerful tool for uncovering facts, building bipartisan consensus, and fostering change.

Join former Senate investigator Elise Bean, author of "Financial Exposure: Carl Levin's Senate Investigations into Finance and Tax Abuse" as she discusses the role of congressional oversight investigations in the United States. Despite mounting levels of partisanship, dysfunction, and cynicism swirling through Congress, Bean contends that congressional oversight investigations function as powerful tools of democracy. She will offer detailed case histories of historical oversight investigations and provide commentary on current oversight efforts in Congress.
