Behind Every Powerful Man...

Dr. Janette Muir, Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education at George Mason University, will discuss the changing role of First Ladies, and the way the Office of the First Lady has evolved over time.

Dr. Muir teaches courses in Political Communication and Rhetoric and has written articles on presidential campaigns, political activism and gendered politics. Dr. Muir has received a George Mason University Teaching Excellence Award. She is a C-SPAN Fellow, past president of the Eastern Communication Association, and past editor of Communication Quarterly. She is recognized as a Centennial Scholar for her contribution to scholarship in the Communication discipline.
