A multi-media and multi-sensory journey of cultural exchange between the U.S. and West Bengal, India

Join us for the culminating event of the Communities Connecting Heritage (CCH) project, “Learning Together for a Brighter Future,” a cultural exchange project which sent folk artists and craftspeople from Bengal and students of Cultural Studies from the USA to each other's countries to share stories, ideas, skills and practices for safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. Both groups will appear at Central Library to demonstrate the fruits of the cultural exchange fostered by this program.

This event will include performances by Bengali musicians, a demonstration of traditional Bengali scroll painting, presentations about the cultural sharing activities between the two groups, and a chance to add your own cultural story to an interactive activity.

Drop in at any time between 2 and 4, or stay for the entire program. Light snacks will be provided. Appropriate for all ages.

"Learning Together for a Brighter Future" is a partnership between the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage and Contact Base. Funding for the project was provided by the U.S. Department of State, administered by World Learning.
