Ellen Roberts was born & bred in Alexandria, VA. She attended University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a ballet major, before graduating high school from the Academy at Metropolitan School of the Arts (ballet major) in Alexandria. She is a 2025 graduate of the Boston Conservatory. Her professional credits include Frozen and Jersey Boys at North Shore Music Theatre and Beautiful, Jersey Boys, and The Bodyguard at Theatre By the Sea.
Ellen began dancing at The Washington Ballet when she was five years old and studied Cecchetti Method under ballet teacher Sally Tierney throughout elementary and middle school. She started theater under the tutelage of her mother, Shelagh Roberts, who was the head of the children’s program at Little Theatre of Alexandria.
Ellen’s first professional performance was as ‘Baby Mouse’ in The Washington Ballet’s Nutcracker at the Warner Theater in first grade. She performed in Joffrey Ballet’s Nutcracker as well as Ballet West’s Nutcracker at the Kennedy Center and played ‘Baby Louise’ in Gypsy at Signature Theatre when she was twelve.
Some of Ellen’s dearest memories are performing in community theater productions, including Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre, Aldersgate Church Community Theater and Little Theatre of Alexandria. She started as a dancing jellyfish in a local production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid and has kept her love for Disney shows ever since! Ellen credits the DC metro area as the perfect place to grow up and nurture her love for the arts, along with her amazing neighbors, teachers, friends, and family with guiding her on her journey.
She is most looking forward to seeing her family in the area during Beauty and the Beast’s stop at the National Theatre. Growing up, Ellen saw tours of Les Misérables and Jersey Boys at the National, so it is very surreal for her to perform on that same stage. She feels immense gratitude coming back to her hometown with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast!
