Join us to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday!

For all ages - youth, families and adults!

Libraries are essential to the growth, sustainability and health of American communities. Join us to celebrate libraries and our community, and enjoy musical and spoken word performances, historic craft demonstrations, historical presentations, storytimes and Summer Reading activities for all. Stop by any part of the day to celebrate our country's milestone anniversary!

Highlights:

  • Enjoy musical performances all day (including the President's Own Marine Corps Band ensemble)
  • Silkscreen your own commemorative poster (first 300 attendees)
  • Be inspired by spoken-word performances on the Words Matter Stage. 
  • Learn how to digitize family photos
  • Practice your yo-yo skills with the DC Throwers
  • Explore historic games and paper crafts
  • Learn about the role of "Virginia in the American Revolution" with author Charles A. Mills

General Schedule: 

  • 10 am - 4:00 pm: Local food trucks selling snacks and meals
  • 10 am - 4:30 pm: Activities, Workshops, Author Talk, Spoken Word Performances and Craft Demonstrations
  • 10 am - 4:30 pm: Community Pavilion featuring local nonprofit organizations
  • 10 am - 7:00 pm: Musical Performances
