Learn about the current state of animal research and one beagle who made it out 

Local author and journalist Melanie Kaplan will discuss her new release, "Lab Dog: A Beagle and His Human Investigate the Surprising World of Animal Research." Curious to know more about her own adopted dog's past, as well as the broader world of animal research, Kaplan—with her dog Hammy in tow—embarks on a quest for answers. Kaplan will be in conversation with local writer Anne Cassidy.

The discussion will be followed by audience Q&A and book signing.
