Meet fellow musicians and discuss songwriting!

Are you a new or experienced songwriter looking for inspiration and community? Courthouse Songwriters Group meets once a month to discuss the craft of songwriting, create new songs based on new concepts and prompts, and share our work in a supportive environment. Participants can be new or experienced songwriters and should have basic familiarity with one instrument. Bring a notebook and pen.

For December’s meeting, we will discuss songwriting, explore phrasing, and introduce a new prompt. The prompt is optional, and participants are welcome to share work unrelated to the prompt. We will give each other descriptive and non-critical feedback. Sharing a song is highly encouraged, but not required.

Prompts:

  • Aug. 13: Presence and Curiosity
  • Sept.10: Expression and Experimentation
  • Oct. 8: Breaking Rules and Imposing Limitations
  • Nov. 12: Memory and Subconscious
  • Dec. 10: Phrasing
