Come unwind with some Saturday afternoon jazz.

Join us for an hour of jazz by a premier military jazz group. The Airmen of Note combo will celebrate Sonny Stitt, one of the key saxophonists from the be-bop/hard bop/soul jazz era. Stitt, who spent the latter part of his life in the D.C. area where he raised his family, would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. Known for his warm tone on both alto and tenor, he was one of the best-documented saxophonists of his generation, recording more than 100 albums as a leader.

Free. Attendance is first-come, first-seated until event capacity is reached.

Airmen of Note: Created in 1950 to continue the tradition of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Forces dance band, the Airmen of Note consists of 17 active-duty musicians and one vocalist. As part of The U.S. Air Force Band, the Airmen of Note honors those who have served, inspires American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and connects the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States. The excellence demonstrated by the Band is a reflection of the excellence displayed by Airmen stationed around the globe. Each member is proud to represent all Airmen, whose selfless service and sacrifices ensure the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of the United States of America.
