The Library hits the trails!

Arlington County Public Library is joining forces with Loudoun County Public Library and Fairfax County Public Library to take over the 45 miles of the W&OD Trail, from its beginning in Shirlington, Arlington County, to its end in Purcelville, Loudoun County. Enjoy any section of the trail across the three counties and you will find tents with Library staff and community partners. Stop for water, bike-related giveaways, a chat or a chance to win prizes.

Want to learn more about the history of the creation of the W&OD Trail? Attend a local author talk with Peter Harnik on Tuesday, October 10 at Central Library to learn about the movement that converted rails to trails.

Arlington County pit stops include:

  • W&OD trailhead at the intersection of S Four Mile Run Dr and Shirlington Rd
  • Columbia Pike bike circle, at the intersection of Columbia Pike and S Four Mile Run Drive
  • Bluemont Junction Park, near the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and N Manchester St

Community partners you may find at these pit stops include:

RSVP for an emailed event reminder.

This event is rain or shine; however, in the event of severe inclement weather, it will be canceled.
