Learn how to use sun, shadow and chemistry to create a unique shadowgram

Using pre-sensitized paper, participants will create and take home original shadowgrams from botanical samples, lace, feathers, or anything else that will cast an interesting shadow.  All materials will be provided for this family-friendly, drop-in event. Projects will need time to be 'washed.' Participants should figure in some waiting time in the Library before taking home their prints.

About the artist: Mac Cosgrove-Davies began this photographic conversation producing black and white photographs in a darkroom at age 12.  In college, an independent study in historic photographic processes, revealed their creative potential.  He has been using gum bichromate, cyanotype, oil and carbon printing to produce striking, unique images for more than 40 years.

Visit Cosgrove-Davies' art exhibit, "Arlington Volunteers." On display in the Central Library lobby April 1 - April 30 in celebration of National Volunteer Month. Learn more about the "Arlington Volunteers" exhibit.
