Before "Pose"...before "RuPaul's Drag Race"...before "Vogue," there was "Paris is Burning"

Celebrate Queer Pride 2023 with the Library!

This pivotal 1990 film, directed by Jennie Livingston and featuring the foremothers of modern drag and their legendary children, immerses viewers in the 1980s New York Ball scene, and the African-American, Latino, gay, and transgender communities that got their start there, including Crystal LaBeija, Dorian Corey, and Willi Ninja.

Join the Library in reliving these moments, throwing shade, and serving executive realness as we experience this essential film together. Come in drag if you're feeling it!

Free popcorn!

RSVP for an event reminder. Free. This film contains adult themes and language; recommended for adults 18+.
