Film Screening - "American Masters: Roberta Flack"
Join Arlington Public Library at Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse to enjoy this new PBS documentary
Arlington's own Roberta Flack is the focus of a new PBS documentary, American Masters: Roberta Flack, which provides an intimate look into Flack's artistry, life and triumphs over racism and sexism within and outside of the recording industry. With exclusive access to Flack’s archives of film, performances, interviews, home movies, photos, hit songs and unreleased music, the film documents how Flack’s musical virtuosity was inseparable from her lifelong commitment to civil rights. Running time 87 minutes.
This film screening will take place at Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington, VA 22204). Doors open at 6 p.m.
We will be joined by Producer Antonino D'Ambrosio who will make remarks before the screening. Film screening begins at approximately 7 p.m.
Registration required. To ensure your seat, you must arrive by 6:45 p.m. after which point unfilled seats will be released on a first-come, first-served basis.
This film screening is offered courtesy of PBS, American Masters, and The WNET Group, in partnership with WETA and The Black Heritage Museum of Arlington.
The Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse offers a full menu and drink service which will be available for purchase during the event. Free popcorn will be served.
